Preston skipper drops in to support Edward Dewhurst

PRESTON North End captain Ian Ashbee showed his full support for grassroots football and his sponsors Edward Dewhurst Limited when he dropped in for a Leyland Albion training session.

Edward Dewhurst, who are proudly sponsoring the former Premier League star for the 2011-12 campaign, invited Ashbee to run the rule over Albion’s promising crop of youngsters, seeing how they train and prepare for their weekend matches.

Leyland Albion, who received the FA Charter Standard title at Deepdale this year, were delighted to welcome Ashbee, and the 35-year-old PNE star stayed behind to sign autographs and have pictures taken with the youngsters.

Edward Dewhurst’s Airfield Services Director Derek Calloway, who helps coach the under-10 team, said: “It was great to have Ian down, he was impressed with the ability with the players on show.”

North End’s community development manager Gary Robinson said: “It is fantastic that a local company, Edward Dewhurst Limited, are involved with the community and are fully supportive of Preston North End.”
