Like father… like son.

EDWARD Dewhurst’s rising star Alex Lewis has a special reason to celebrate 2011.

Alex, who has recently completed his training as an electrician with the company, also reached the regional finals of the JTL electrical apprentice of the year.

Alex’s father Stewart, who has worked for Edward Dewhurst since 1984, proudly saw his son collect his prize at the awards night, held at Houghton Towers, near Preston.

It is the second successive year that Edward Dewhurst has had an apprentice in the regional finals, with James Topping winning through last year.

Alex, who joined Edward Dewhurst in 2007, finished in the top 100 from 6,500 apprentices in the UK and joint Managing Director John Dewhurst said: “It is tremendous achievement.”

He added: “Many of the companies who enter the awards are major organizations with budgets and resources many times that of Edward Dewhurst.

“It also shows the value of traditional apprenticeships in producing first rate electricians.”
